Lose in OT again
The St. John's Ice Caps lost in overtime for the second game in a row this time they fell 4-3 to the Providence Burins. The teams were tied 2-2 after 40 minutes of play and 3-3 at end of regulation. Andrew Bodnarchuk scored the game winner at 18 seconds of the overtime session.
Spencer Machacek with his first of the season, Kevin Clarke also with his first and Aaron Gagnon also with his first goal accounded for the IceCaps scoring.
The IceCaps outshot Providence 43-34.
The St. John's Ice Caps battled back twice to tie their game with Springfield but in the end they fell 4-3 in overtime before some 24 hunbdred fans in Springfield Saturday night. Jason Jaffrey has two goals this third and fourth of the season and Paul Postma with his second at 19:22 tied the game.
The Ice Caps are ( 5-2-1) on the season and the Falcons (5-5).
Meanwhile, Winnipeg Jets sent Aaron Gagnon down to the IceCaps Friday.
Gagnon joined the Jets’ organization as a free agent this past offseason.
He split time in 2010-11 between the Dallas Stars and their AHL affiliate Texas Stars. He is a native of Quesnel, B.C. and recorded his first NHL point with an assist on Dec. 6, 2010, against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Last season Gagnon contributed two points (0G, 2A) in 19 games with Dallas and totaled 37 points (14G, 23A) in 58 games with the Texas Stars. Gagnon was originally drafted by the Phoenix Coyotes in the eighth round, 240th overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
