Trade and loan players

 

 

The St. John’s IceCaps they have loaned forward Michael Forney and traded forward Shawn Weller to the Texas Stars in exchange for forward Raymond Sawada.

Sawada, 27, has played in 26 games with Texas this season for 16 points (6G, 10A) and 19 penalty minutes. He spent the 2008-09 season with the Manitoba Moose apearing in 52 games for 21 points (6G, 15A).

The Richmond, BC native has played in 11 career NHL games with Dallas and scored his first NHL goal in his NHL debut on Feb. 19/09. The right-handed winger has played in 205 career AHL games between Iowa, Manitoba and Texas for 94 points (33G, 58A) and 247 penalty minutes. Sawada was orginally drafted by the Dallas Stars in the second round, 52nd overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.

 


The St. John’s IceCaps have loaned goaltender Peter Mannino and forward Kenndal McArdle to the Portland Pirates in exchange for forward Brock Trotter.

Trotter, 25, has played in 35 games with the Pirates this season earning 31 points (12G, 19A) and 16 penalty minutes. He started the season with the Hamilton Bulldogs where he collected seven points (2G, 5A) and four penalty minutes in five games.

He was traded to Phoenix on Oct. 23/11.   The Brandon, MB native has played in 212 career AHL games between Hamilton and Portland for 173 career points (71G, 102A) and 112 penalty minutes. He was signed as a free agent by the Montreal Canadiens in 2008. Trotter has appeared in two NHL games, both for the Canadiens, in the 2009-10 season.
