Win tournament in Cole Harbour



The Rovers first game of the round robin was against the Cole Harbour Wings with a win of 6-4.  Mark Barrett had three goals, Cameron Simms had two goals and  Michael Hopkins had one goal. Bennett, Simms,5 Mercer and Parsons picked up assists. MVP for the game was  goalie Owen Petten.

The Rovers second game was against the RBC Hickmen's Icemen which ended in a tie 7-7. Mark Barrett once again scoring 3 goals,  Cameron Simms, Brandon Crane, Michael Hopkins and  Noah Mercer all had singles. Mercer,11 Hopkins,  Barrett,  Petten, Bennett, all had assists. MVP for the game Mark Barrett.

The final game of the round robin was against the Sackville Flyers ending in a 7-5 loss. Mark Barrett scored twice, Cameron Simms, Colin Parsons, and  Michael Hopkins all had singles. Mercer, Parsons, Petten, Barrett all had assists. MVP for the game Noah Mercer.

The Rovers ended up in 2nd place in the red division after the round robin sending them to the semi final game against the first place team in the white division, the Chebucto Atlantics. This game ended with a 5-2 win. With MVP for the game Mark Barrett scoring four goals, and  Cameron Simms scoring one goal. Parsons, Petten and  Barrett assisted the goals.

It was off to the final against last years defending champions the TASA Ducks. After three periods of play the game ended in a tie of 3-3. With two goals scored by once again  Mark Barrett and a single by 7 Cameron Simms. Then it was a 5 minute 4 on 4 overtime period. With just 47.1 seconds remaining on the clock MVP for the game Mark Barrett scored the winner.

The Rovers brought home to Newfoundland for the first time the gold medal, the Irene Star Memorial Trophy, the AAA banner.
